Most importantly you shouldn’t leave behind your passport, your airline ticket, your immunization cards since of the covid pandemic and maybe some cash.
For any tourist planning a safari in Uganda, always find out what you should pack not forgetting the season you visiting the country, the season could be a peak season, shoulder season or low season.
But most importantly is to enjoy and be comfortable enough rather than being offended and disappointed.
Below is the list that brings advise to you;
In Uganda, the peak season starts from June to December to February, there a tourist should consider protection from the sun as listed below;
With long pants, you can consider them if they reach the ground. The Ugandan red dirt will on anything that it touches. Stay forewarned.
With long skirts, they shouldn’t be too tight because the safari guides will have to assume that you are ready to climb and move fast. This will also help you feel comfortable without getting hot.
If you are coming on a gorilla trekking safari, be very sure of the boots you are carrying along (Hiking boots). When it’s a wet season, the park tends to be slippery therefore one shouldn’t forget rubber boots.
Most important items needed on a Gorilla trekking safari.
For your comfortability on a gorilla trekking safari, carry long pants/trousers and long socks that you can easily tuck your long pants in. This works perfectly well.
During the AM hours (morning hours) the park tends to be cool inside the forest and it gets hot once in a while when you start hiking so one may carry gloves with him/her. The gloves prevent you from touching the thorns, vines, tough hike and without them, your hands may get a little
ripped up by the end of the safari.

- Under wear. Moisture walking for gorilla trekking
- Hut to protect you from direct sun rays
- Sleep wear
- Pair of stocks
- Sandals

- Sun lotion
- Hand sanitizer
- Sunglasses and binoculars
- Carry a couple of pockets of anti-septic hand wipes
- Carry quality camera and battery charger
- In most cases you may need an internet router
- Sometimes you can also carry your treatment and vaccination drugs

Things to avoid.
Jeans. These jeans are not ideal. They get too warm during the day and if washed it takes longer to dry- camps will not have drying machines.
For ladies, please don’t pack high heeled or wedged shoes. They are highly unpractical in a bush situation. If you are selecting shoes, comfort and durability are what we recommend.
In case you are crossing boarders, don’t wear camouflage. These camo clothing tends to draw unwanted attention from the security official and this may cause time wastage since you trying to explain to the security officials at the border.
Interms of security wise you can leave expensive jewelry and watches at home or in the hotel rooms. That way if they are left unattended in the rooms or tents, they can fall prey to the monkeys, who are partial to stealing shiny objects.
