Gorilla trekking is one of the best activities a tourist must not miss when they visit Uganda the pearl of Africa. Trekking gorillas is quite hard work, that will require you to navigate through the dense forests of Bwindi and Mgahinga national park. This one-day gorilla trekking will give you a close encounter with the giant gentle primates that share 98.3% of their DNA with human beings.
Assuming your already in Bwindi impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla Park.this one-day gorilla trekking in Uganda is quite interesting however, this one-day gorilla trekking cannot be done on the same day you have travelled because of the long distance from Entebbe to Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla national park. There fore a tourist should note that the one-day gorilla trekking is only possible when already in Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.
After early breakfast, you will leave your hotel and proceed to the headquarters in the Bwindi Park for briefing. You will then set off for the mountain gorilla tracking inside the Bwindi Forest. You will need to carry with you rain jacket, jungle boots, drinking water and the rangers will provide you with a walk stick for support while in the forest.
Gorilla trekking is one of the activities you will enjoy while photographing and observing the gorillas. However, you should turn off the flash lights of the camera while photographing to avoid disturbance and threats from the gorillas.
The maximum time to spend with the gorillas is one hour. You should put in mind that it will take you hours to hike through the forest in search of a gorilla family. After tracking, you can go back at the lodge for relaxation. if you have some energy in the afternoon you will go for a village walk to meet the Batwa community with an interesting culture. The Batwa people of Uganda also known as the keepers of the forest live in harmony with the forest.They survive by hunting using bows and arrows and an encounter with them will leave you with everlasting memories. After an encounter with the Batwa you will then proceed to your lodge for an over night or to Entebbe airport for departure.
In summary a one-day gorilla trekking is more interesting when already in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park since it takes time to drive from Entebbe to the parks.
